Dignity PLC (LON:DTY) announced April 21 as the date for its General Meeting as the funeral company faces a boardroom challenge from its major shareholder.

Phoenix UK Fund, the company’s largest single shareholder with a 29.9% stake, served a requisition notice seeking to remove Clive Whiley as executive chairman and replace him with the chief investment officer and founder of Phoenix, Gary Channon.

Dignity’s independent directors said they recommend shareholders vote against Phoenix’s challenge and announced that they would all resign if Phoenix was successful.
