Gfinity appointed as production partner for fighting game tournament

Gfinity PLC (LON:GFIN) said it has been appointed by the Red Bull brand as the production partner for Red Bull Kumite London, a new two-day tournament that will see competitors battle it out on the Street Fighter V video game.

The esports media group said the event will be live-streamed over 22-23 May from the Red Bull Gaming Sphere in London and is the latest partnership between Gfinity and Red bull following the RED Bull World’s Simplified digital show last year.

Gfinity added that the event forms part of its strategic pillar to build communities for publishers, sports rights-holders, brands and media organisations across the gaming sector.

“We are delighted to be teaming up with Red Bull once again as production partner for Kumite London. Fighting games are part of Gfinity’s DNA and since the launch of our Elite Series in 2017, we have focused on delivering the most compelling and content rich Streetfighter broadcasts to the masses,” Gfinity’s global head of content Amanda Lawson said in a statement.

“With this being the first ever UK based Kumite event, our stream will deliver a local feel with global appeal and we are excited to bring non-stop action to fans across the weekend showcasing all the hype and excitement they would expect from such a prestigious event,” she added.

Shares in Gfinity rose 3.3% to 4.6p in early deals on Friday.
