Wagamama owner The Restaurant Group PLC (LON:RTN) chair Debbie Hewitt has stepped down after she was appointed the first ever female chairman of the English Football Association.
Hewitt will start her new role from January next year if she is ratified by the FA Council.
She has been on the board of the restaurateur since 2015 and chair for just over five years. She is also chair of Visa Europe, ComparetheMarket owner BGL and fashion retailer White Stuff.
As an executive, Hewitt was managing director of the RAC and worked at Lex PLC and Marks and Spencer.
She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and was awarded the MBE for services to Business and the Public Sector in 2011.
The owner of the Wagamama chain of restaurants said last month that it has seen an encouraging recovery in sales, with trade in the five weeks to 16 May at around 85% of the sales levels seen in the same period of 2019, for the 130 or so sites that were open.
