() said the ongoing drilling programme at the Havieron gold-copper joint venture project in Western Australia continues to support the potential for resource expansion.

The latest results, announced by operator Newcrest Mining Ltd (), consist of seven new drill holes from the ‘Growth Drilling’ programme.

Newcrest has completed 164,420 metres of drilling from 190 holes to date, with all the latest holes continuing to intersect significant mineralisation, Greatland said.

High-grades were intercepted below the December 2020 initial inferred resource shell in the South East Crescent Zone and adjacent Breccia Zones, and around the Northern Breccia. One of the holes (HAD133) returned 85 metres at 11 grammes per tonne (g/t) gold and 0.29% copper from a depth of 1,345 metres, including 13 metres at 32g/t gold and 0.46% copper from a depth of 1,363 metres, and 14.5 metres at 32g/t gold and 0.33% copper from 1,396.5 metres.

That selling is now abating, and the buyers are coming in for gold again, seeking the traditional safe haven.

That means that the companies that find and produce the gold are set to benefit too, a process which is already getting underway.

() is unique amongst London-listed gold stocks, according to broker , which today kicks off its coverage of the mining share with a ‘speculative buy’ recommendation.

It has been a strong performing share on AIM nonetheless with a price target of 25p the broker suggests some 25% of further upside to the current price. Meanwhile, analyst Sam Catalano highlights a number of possible value catalysts that may push the price further.

“We would agree that on the currently defined resource base, current trading levels are difficult to justify fundamentally. However, we outline a number of scenarios which we believe illustrate the modest level of exploration success required to justify significant valuation upside for this compelling equity story,” the analyst said in a note.
