() (), a specialist graphite producer and graphene and advanced materials developer, has agreed to buy strategic graphite projects in Mozambique from ASX-listed Battery Minerals Ltd for A$12.5mln (GBP6.6mln) in a cash and shares deal.

Tirupati will acquire Suni Resources SA, the holder of the Mozambique portfolio of graphite assets of Battery Minerals including two world-class graphite projects: Montepuez and Balama Central.

The two complementary graphite deposits, spread over a combined 18,500 hectares permit area, will add mineral resources of more than 152 million tonnes at 8.5% total graphite content (TGC) to Tirupati’s JORC-compliant mineral resource base.

Montepuez is a high-grade flake graphite project currently in the construction phase, while Balama Central is an advanced stage feasibility ready project located in an established graphite producing district.

() said it commissioned Stage 1 of the Tirupati graphene and mintech research centre (TGMRC) in India. This marks the start of revenue generation at TGMRC and allows the company to advance commercialisation engagements.

In Stage 1, the facility can initially produce up to 1 kilogram per day – of graphene oxide (‘GO’), reduced graphene oxide (‘rGO’) and aluminium graphene composite – via the zero-chemical process developed by the company. Ongoing development and expansion of the facility will enable up to 10 kgs per day.

() said it signed a memorandum of understanding with Hanwa Co. Ltd, a major Japanese global trading and investment company, to expand markets for its flake and speciality graphite products in the Far East.

The London-listed company said it and Hanwa have already identified various prospective buyers in the Far East and that initial discussions with prospective buyers have resulted in extensive interest in Tirupati’s products.

() () Shishir Poddar, chief executive, joins Proactive London’s Katie Pilbeam to explain why they have agreed to buy strategic graphite projects in Mozambique from ASX-listed Battery Minerals Ltd for A$12.5mln (GBP6.6mln) in a cash and shares deal.

Poddar says this deal will ‘complement Madagascar’ because they ‘mix’ and will ‘mitigate our country risk’ as well as the fact these are already ‘advanced projects’.
