Empire Metals Ltd (AIM:EEE) (AIM:EEE) has kicked off reverse circulation drilling at the Central Menzies gold project in Western Australia.

The programme follows up a successful soil sampling programme which identified areas ‘of the greatest prospectivity’, the company said. The exploration effort is also supported by acquired high resolution magnetic data and historic drill data.

A total of 2,100 metres of RC drilling is slated as the fast-track development project advances on-track and within budget, it added, as drilling gets underway.

“The technical focus and determined effort made by our geological team to identify drill-ready targets has been extremely encouraging and has meant that we can now start a substantial drilling campaign with a high degree of confidence in the targets selected,” said managing director Shaun Bunn.

“After reviewing the historical drilling database, and taking into account the geophysical data analysis, we have confirmed two highly prospective mineralised zones which will be the primary focus of the coming RC drilling campaign.

“We anticipate adding further drilling targets to the development plan as we complete the geochemical mapping based on the recently completed soil sampling programme.”

Bunn, meanwhile, highlighted that the company continues to work on an initial assessment of the small-scale mining opportunities at the Eclipse gold project, also in WA, and a technical update is expected shortly.
