The company signed a five-year deal that sees it provide e-commerce and store replenishment operations. It will be delivered through a new distribution centre in Rathcoole, in Dublin, and will be powered by a smart logistics technology, called Geek+, which is a ‘goods to person’ robotics solution.
Clipper landed the new business through a competitive tender process.
“We are delighted to win this new contract with Life Style Sports, which extends both our geographic footprint in Ireland and showcases Clipper’s ability to lead this major transformation for Ireland’s largest sports retailer,” said executive chairman Steve Parkin.
“Working with Geek+, Clipper is providing a technology-based solution, which demonstrates that Clipper remains at the forefront of technological solutions for end-to-end services in omnichannel retailing.”
The Clipper operation for Life Style Sports is expected to begin in January 2022.
Clipper’s new Rathcoole facility comprises 100,000 square feet of warehousing space and can be extended over time. The contract will see the creation of 75 new jobs, Clipper noted, and over time it said as many as 110 new roles may be needed.
Life Style Sports switched to third-party managed warehouse and fulfilment operations in 2015.
Mark Stafford, Life Style Sports chief executive, added: “We chose Clipper as our service provider given their excellent reputation for delivering rapid and effective logistics solutions.
“We look forward to working together in the years to come.”
