BlueRock Diamonds PLC said it discovered a 58.6 carat diamond at the Kareevlei mine in South Africa, just one week on from a 21.56 carat diamond find from the same mine.

“We expect that the sales value of the 58.6 carat stone will be significant as it is a “D” colour makeable stone but has spotted black sulphide intrusions with the final value dependent upon the buyer’s confidence of what cut stones can be recovered,” said executive chairman Mike Houston.

Both diamonds will be sold in the August tender.

BlueRock Diamonds PLC has discovered of a 21.56 carat diamond at its Kareevlei project in South Africa.

The 21.56 carat stone is a high quality, D-coloured round diamond with high value recovery options and its value is likely to significantly exceed the company’s previous record of US$236,000. The stone will be sold in the August 2021 tender.

BlueRock Diamonds Plc () said its second quarter production performance was “very pleasing” as the operator of the Kareevlei Diamond mine in South Africa revealed a rebound in production following a Coronavirus (COVID-19)-hampered 2020.

Friday’s production report showed the Kareevlei diamond mine processed 134,510 tonnes in the 2021 quarter, up 48% from 90,830 tonnes a year ago. Grades were marked at 4.05 carats per hundred tonne (CPHT) this year versus 2.76 cpht.
