Kavango Resources sees huge upside at KSZ in Botswana

Kavango Resources is a mineral exploration company focused on Botswana. Kavango has been set up by an experienced team of geologists and a geophysicist with a history of exploration discoveries in southern Africa. The focus in Botswana is centred on three projects, which are prospective for copper, nickel and PGE metals.

() renewed its two prospecting licences for the LVR project in the Kalahari Copper Belt (KCB) in Botswana and said, elsewhere in the country it has requested a hole to be extended to help it refine its model of its the Kalahari Suture Zone (KSZ).

The LVR project covers 1,091 sq km of prospective ground in the KCB and is held in a joint venture with LVR GeoExplorers. Kavango is earning into the project and to date acquired a 25% stake.

First drill targets were announced on 03 June 2021. Field exploration is ongoing and a further update is expected in the coming weeks, a statement said.

Ben Turney, Kavango’s chief executive, added: “The LVR Project is quietly gaining momentum.

Kavango Resources has unearthed what it said appears to be signs of copper mineralisation in pyroxenite at 651m from surface at its Kalahari Suture Zone (KSZ) exploration project in Botswana.

The hole, TA2DD002, is currently being drilled in the northern (Hukuntsi) section of the 100% owned KSZ project.

It’s hard to understate just how valuable the prize that () is chasing at the Kalahari Suture Zone project could be.

If the geological interpretation that the company has put together is right – and the data to support the interpretation is extensive – then the KSZ could turn out to be a mineralised orebody of a kind seen only rarely in the world, at sites like Voisey’s Bay, Norilsk and Jinchuan.
