The company holds a significant acreage position within the Central North Sea referred to as the Greater Buchan Area (“GBA”), which includes operatorship and 100% working interests in blocks that contain the Buchan oil field and J2 oil discovery and a 100% working interest in the P2170 Licence Blocks 20/5b & 21/1d, that contain the Verbier oil discovery and other exploration prospects.

(, ) chief executive Andrew Benitz described the first half of 2021 as “busy” as the UK exploration and production company continued to advance the Greater Buchan Area project in the North Sea.

During the period, there was a material increase in resource estimates for the project rising to 126mln barrels of technically recoverable resources for the Buchan field specifically, and, 172mln barrels for the greater area.

A concept selection report was completed and submitted to the UK authorities and Jersey raised GBP16.6mln in an oversubscribed share placing. Also in the period, the company launched a farm-out process to secure an industry partner and project funding.

Looking ahead, Jersey highlighted that the process is ongoing and it is engaged in ongoing talks with interested parties.

(, ) told investors it aims to develop the Greater Buchan Area project in the North Sea as the region’s first new project to be fully powered by electricity.

The company, in a statement, said it has seen significant stakeholder interest in working collaboratively to enable the GBA Development to become an integral part of an area-wide electrification project.

(, ) () told investors that it will not proceed into the next phase of the Zermatt (P2497) and Glenn (P2499) licences in the North Sea, and accordingly the licences will cease on 29 August.

The company, in a statement, noted that entering the next phase would have committed it to drill a well on each licence.

WH Ireland sees huge upside to the () share price as the stockbroker looks to a possible farm-out deal that will propel forward the Greater Buchan Area (GBA) oil field project in the North Sea.

In a note WH Ireland, which acts as broker to Jersey, said it believes the company is progressing the GBA project apace towards first oil by late 2025.

At the same time, WH Ireland repeats an estimate of fair value pitched at 622p – versus a prevailing price of 152p in London.
