Former Apple designer Sir Jony Ive and his partner Marc Newson at the creative collective LoveFrom have announced a collaboration with the Agnelli family’s Exor and Ferrari (NYSE:RACE).

Exor said they will explore “a range of creative projects… in the business of luxury”, though The Financial Times has revealed the first project will be designing Ferrari (NYSE:RACE)’s first electric model.

“We are thrilled to be embarking on such an important, long term collaboration with Ferrari and more broadly Exor. As Ferrari owners and collectors, we could not be more excited about collaborating with this extraordinary company and in particular with the design team expertly led by Flavio Manzoni,” Newson and Ive commented in a release.

Ive is a heavyweight in the tech industry, as he is credited with developing Apple’s iconic design style.

He spent 27 years at the US giant, working with cofounder Steve Jobs to design the iMac, iPod, iPhone, MacBook and iPad.

He left Apple two years ago to set up his own consultancy.

John Elkann, chairman and chief executive of Exor and chairman of Ferrari, unveiled plans to build an electric Ferrari by 2025 last April.

“Soon after LoveFrom was founded we began to talk with Jony and Marc about opportunities to combine their world-renowned creativity with ours, in complementary and incremental ways. Ferrari represents a first, exciting chance to do great things together as we build our future,” he commented on Tuesday.
