(), a Botswana-focused exploration company, hired new senior commercial and exploration personnel and provided an operations update.

It appointed Tiyapo (Tipps) Ngwisanyi, the founding chief executive of the government- owned Botswana Geoscience Institute, as managing director of Kavango Minerals (Pty) Ltd, the company’s local operating subsidiary in the country.

The company also hired John Lauderdale as senior consulting geologist and Jeremy Brett as a senior consulting geophysicist.

“Our vision is to build a world-class minerals exploration firm in Botswana,” said chief executive Ben Turney. “These senior appointments are a significant step on our way to achieving this vision.”

() renewed its two prospecting licences for the LVR project in the Kalahari Copper Belt (KCB) in Botswana and said, elsewhere in the country it has requested a hole to be extended to help it refine its model of its the Kalahari Suture Zone (KSZ).

The LVR project covers 1,091 sq km of prospective ground in the KCB and is held in a joint venture with LVR GeoExplorers. Kavango is earning into the project and to date acquired a 25% stake.

Kavango Resources has unearthed what it said appears to be signs of copper mineralisation in pyroxenite at 651m from surface at its Kalahari Suture Zone (KSZ) exploration project in Botswana.

The hole, TA2DD002, is currently being drilled in the northern (Hukuntsi) section of the 100% owned KSZ project.

() () Ben Turney joins Proactive London’s Katie Pilbeam to discuss the rationale behind renewing its two prospecting licences for the LVR project in the Kalahari Copper Belt (KCB) in Botswana.

He explains why they chose Friday afternoon to announce they have requested Mindea Exploration and Drilling Services (Pty) to extend Hole TA2DD002 to 1,000m depth, which is the technical limit of the drill rig on site within acceptable safety margins, to assist in further developing and refining the Company’s model of the KSZ.

Prior to this the firm unearthed what it said appears to be signs of copper mineralisation in pyroxenite at 651m from surface at its Kalahari Suture Zone (KSZ) exploration project in Botswana.
