AFC Energy PLC (AIM:AFC, OTC:AFGYF) has highlighted that Prince Charles hosted an event at the COP26 conference where the company’s zero-emission hydrogen power generator was demonstrated, having featured in the inaugural Extreme E all-electric SUV racing series.

The Prince of Wales hosted an event where McLaren Racing confirmed its entry into Extreme E in 2022 with Emma Gilmour as the team’s first-ever female driver.

His Royal Highness saw a demonstration given by AFC Energy’s chief executive, Adam Bond, of how power can be generated off-grid using hydrogen and is being pioneered by Extreme E and all its race teams in the emissions-free racing series.

The fuel cell system engineered and designed by AFC and Extreme E has successfully been used in each of the first four races of the 2021 season to charge up electric race vehicles without harmful greenhouse emissions.

Bond said: “We were able to show how AFC Energy, a British business champion, is at the forefront of clean tech innovation and focused on developing the solutions needed to limit the effects of climate change.

“I am delighted to see another famous marque like McLaren join Extreme E and want to thank Zak and the team for inviting us to join today’s event and allowing us to showcase our zero emission hydrogen power generators.”
