Versarien PLC (AIM:VRS, OTC:VRSRF) is to collaborate with fashion retailer Superdry to produce graphene-enhanced garments with improved thermal and moisture management properties.

A premium range of products is being developed by Superdry using Versarien’s GRAPHENE-WEAR tech that will be adapted and designed to help the body manage its temperature, particularly in extreme climates and circumstances when the body is under stress.

Use of graphene will also improve the functionality of the garments, allowing for clothes that will last longer with little fibre failure.

Neill Ricketts, Versarien’s chief executive, said: “We are delighted that Superdry has publicly announced our collaboration.

“Since we started working with Superdry we have developed a number of sample garments and its decision to announce the collaboration and the future launch of the products we are developing together is, I believe, a testament to the benefits they see in utilising Versarien’s graphene technology.”

Superdry added that Versarien’s graphene technology will result in garments with improved performance and extended product lifespan, with lower environmental impact in their creation, while also reducing the need to add any virgin material during recycling.

The clothes maker will also get access to Versarien’s scientists and laboratories in Manchester and Cambridge, which it believes will accelerate its development of new garments.
